Election Babble

As many of you know I am against voting straight party lines. Yet, it seems this election is all about voting party lines. The sad part is most people don’t take the time to review the voting record of the people running for election. Even sadder is the fact that, thanks to the internet and the use of basic databases, the information is easily available.

So in my attempt to empower the nation I have reviewed some of the sights and have found one that makes it easy. This sight not only tells you how candidates voted on different issues, but also gives you the option of inputting your views and matches what candidate votes closest to what you believe.

The link to the quiz is : http://www.issues2002.org/Quiz.htm

Once at the sight follow the link that reads: SenateMatch Quiz of 33 Senate races in 2006

I recommend that you take it, you might be surprised. I was.

If you want to view a candidate voting record try this link: http://www.issues2002.org/default.htm
By the way, I know it says 2002! If you try it you will see that it is up to date

Where is the wake!

So my question is where is the wake? The question this morning was where was the break light? No I did not have a wreck. This car in front of me today miraculously stopped. without using the breaks. At least that was how it appeared, given that her break lights were out.

She had no idea what was happening behind her. No one had been nice enough to bring to her attention that her break light's were out. Not even I took the time, after cursing and bringing my car to a overly dramatic stop, took the time to make her aware of what was happening. That somehow makes me feel less liek a human.

It makes me wonder if the person in this picture is looking backwards, or is paddling unknowingly straight ahead.

We set out on our trip. We do what we have been taught. We kick the tires, fill up with premium, check the oil, turn the key, and off we go. Since we have studied the map we know exactly how to get there. Now days there are numerous maps, detailing not only how to get there, but side trips to take along the way. Needles to say, we have “mapped our course.” Although if you watch prime time crime shows, mid-day talk shows, or late night news shows they would try to convince you that “we have mapped our course” should be replaced with, “our course was mapped.”

The issue is that we fail to check our rearview mirror, get out and check the tail lights. Or in my imagination to forget that sharks are attracted to shiny objects as we throw our 3 Musketeers wrapper overboard. Only to look the other way as it gets stuck to the underside of our flotation device.

Kayaking is not a team sport.

Labor Day Mencia

If you think about it Labor Day is a selfish holiday. Most other holidays are connected to reflections of great leaders or of battles, glory achieved over other races, individuals, nations, ect. To quote the U.S. Department of Labor, …”devoted to no man, living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation.” Labor Day is all about us (that’s you and me, not the nation)

At this point my thoughts switch to Billy Madison explaining the Industrial Revolution…sorta’. Labor day is like the little girl who cleaned her room and wanted a party to be thrown, like a alcoholic not drinking and standing on the street corner to preach to the people passing by, like a student going to school and asking to go home early because they attended the first three classes, or a pregnant mom not smoking and asking for some special federal funding as a reward.

So as mentioned in the blogg below I took full advantage. I patted myself on the back with both hands, tipped one back, and traveled to Atlantic City to see Carlos Mencia. I can now admit that I have laughed so hard I lost my voice. I have never seen anything so funny in my life.

Atlantic City was his first stop on his tour. The show started at 11:00 and didn’t get out until 1:30. My personal “Ebert and Roeper”!

Ebert: 20 thumbs up "Impeccably crafted …"
Roeper: 12 ½ Stars “Edgy and outrageous …"

A Must Go See This Fall (If in Texas replace fall with slightly cooler summer prior to spring)

Riversharks at Campbell's Field

Two weeks ago, give or take two or so weeks, the Supply Chain department had the Campbell’s suite at Campbell’s Field. Time fly’s so fast now that I have something to do 24hrs. a day. Not that I am doing something 24hrs. a day, but I could. I guess just the fact that I can is sufficient for now. So my wife and I went to the game. The team is a minor league team, The Camden River sharks. I really don’t like baseball. You’re always sitting around waiting for something to happen. To make matters worse, when it happens I am always in the middle of taking a bite of a chili dog or gulping a big beer. Besides the fact that it’s a game where a group of men get together, put on tight pants, and spend half the game running back to a cramped area where they can slap each other on the ass.. So we went to the minor league game. Minor league is really big up here on the east cost. . Go figure. It was great! The setting could not have been more perfect. I actually took a picture to post because it looks more like something out of a movie set. That and with my mastery of the English language I was sure that I would not be able to explain the view. The field sits on the bank of the Delaware River next to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The picture was taken from the bar looking across the river at Philly.

While there we of course had to also have our picture take with the Mascot. Or was it more like some of my Texas friends who "Stalked The Mascot" Although the picture doesn’t depict it well those are not 12 oz. cups, they are actually bigger, and only cost $4. Yes they still have big beers here, and for a reasonable price. Unlike “Whatever it’s now called field,” where the Texas Rangers Play, and a 12 oz. beer cost $8.

The game was followed up with an amazing fireworks show. I say amazing becuase it was better than what "Whatever it’s now called field,” where the Texas Rangers Play, had for the 4th of July. Although not spectacular, that word is still reserved for the fireworks in Chilie.

So in the end, I think I could get into baseball here. Although, I did suggest that they place a hot-tub in outfield like the Fort Worth Cats.
